(last modified June 24, 2002) eMail Me at harryZZ.boppers.net [ remove the ZZ ]!
Last weekend was the Colegio Americano reunion in Phoenix, Arizona. I put up a description of the event and lots of pictures on this web site. There were six of us, all men, there from the class of 1957 and another 22 people from other classes and relationships.
I WILL add more about my life and myself here. However, right now all I want to say is that I hope this message system does its job of helping us find each other and to build some sort of community, or network, among the friends from Caracas many years ago. Click here to see a list of memories I hope to write about... some day. Scroll down for a picture of me.
I think we went to an utterly unique school in an almost myth-like setting (but I am still a hopless romantic and a dreamer) and I want to recapture as much of it as we can. Photos, essays, memories... send them to me and I will put them up here.
Eventually I will set this up so that anyone can upload an essay (e.g. "The Bowling Team!"), or a scanned picture, or a URL, and it will be automatically set up .. but not today. If you eMail me stuff (or mail it to me) you want posted (ascii text, HTML files, graphic files, URLs.. and eventually sound files), I will put them up so that other can get to them.
I especially want something for others to see when they click on your name like you just clicked on mine to get here. Even a few lines would be good to start.

Here is a start at my biography. This is from a message I sent after hearing from Ken MacCartnay, '55. I will eventually write more.
I went to M.I.T. from Colegio Americano and left there with an M.S. and B.S. in Industrial Management in 1963. I spent two years in the Corps of Engineers in Germany, got married and moved to Columbus, Indiana for five years, then to Hastings-on-Hudson, North of NYC, for most of the last 30 years.
I now live two miles South of Hastings, in Yonkers. I have two grown sons, both doing fine, and an ex-wife who divorced me to marry a mutual friend. I'm still really steamed about that, but hey, it's only been about 24 years since it happened.
I work in the Computer Center at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island. I do end user support for faculty and promote instructional technology and am currently teaching a course as an adjunct in addition to my regular job. I work with computer software, program, and build web things. My URL's are "www.boppers.net" and "people.hofstra.edu/staff/harry_p_baya".
In most ways I've never amounted to much, have had occasional financial problems due to low income the last ten years or so, and dread the possible loss of income at retirement. On the other hand, I've been with the same woman for most of the last 20 years (we will probably marry some day), greatly enjoy my life, and am happy to be alive and well. My hobby is singing, mostly folk-like stuff with a large NYC folk club. I am also a Quaker and love working with kids of all ages.
I married my long time friend and companion, Elaine Appleby, on December 1, 2001.
That's my entire life in one message!
This was even more years
ago!
